02-03-10 – Packed

March 2nd, 2010

I’m all packed and ready for the off. Infact I am at the station at the moment. I had to employ my phone again for this shot as all my camera equipment is packed. It’s a pretty good camera all in all. Anyway part of the theme behind this 365 was to capture the essence of the day and I have done that here I think.

We fly tomorrow so it is unlikely I will get tomorrows shot up on the day, you’ll probably get them Thursday, also with there being a 9 hour time difference shots may appear after midnight UK time. I will adjust the blog as needed to have the correct posts on the correct days.

Here’s the stats:
Exposure:0.067 sec (1/15)
Aperture:f/2.4
Focal Length:3.2 mm
Flash:Auto, Fired

01-03-10 – Statue

March 1st, 2010

Wow, 2 months down!!! 10 to go and I’m starting this month off with a discovery. I have lived in Sheffield for nearly 6+1/2 years now and never before, have I seen this statue that is pretty much in the centre of town! Yeah I know, I must walk round with my eyes shut (and sometimes I really think I do). Anyway, the sun was out at pretty much "The magic hour" so I thought I would take a few shots. I think I learnt something on this one too, I feel that the background maybe a bit distracting and take away from the statue itself, however I could not get a different angle due to restrictions on where I could actually walk. Let me know what you think, my view is that the composition was below par…

Here’s the stats:
Exposure:0.006 sec (1/160)
Aperture:f/6.3
Focal Length:55 mm
ISO Speed:400
Exposure Bias:0 EV

28-02-10 – Hitting the target

February 28th, 2010

Today’s title has 2 meanings I guess. After yesterdays pitiful submission that I am openly not proud of at all I wanted to do something good that took effort. I had had this shot in mind for a while now and so I thought today would be a good day to put that to work. I must say it was hard work to get the setup right, it involved some neodymium magnets some black thread and a lot of patience to get the paper clips hovering in the right place and not sticking to each other. Anyway this is what I came up with, I increased the blacks in lightroom and upped the vibrancy a bit to bring out the redness of the target.

I am pretty pleased with it to be honest. I can see myself messing about with magnets more in this 365!

Here’s the stats:
Exposure:0.017 sec (1/60)
Aperture:f/5.3
Focal Length:42 mm
ISO Speed:400
Exposure Bias:+1 EV
Flash:Auto, Fired, Return detected

27-02-10 – Beer…

February 27th, 2010

Today I made a mistake, I left my camera at home twice. I went into town at lunch and left it then and tonight I am at a fundraising night and I left it at home for that too. So tonight I have employed the use of my phone for tonights shot. If I am honest the photo has reflected a lot of today. Beer at lunch and now means tomorrow could have a slow start.

Anyway it’s a racing night here and the race is about to start. No stats on this one.

It’s a poor show for tonight I know. Apologies.

26-02-10 – Frog and Parrot

February 26th, 2010

THis is the Frog and Parrot pub in Sheffield, it’s one of my more favoured venues in this fair city and so today I thought I would take a shot of it. The blues from the down lights make it even more impressive at night so I waited till dark to take the shot. Processed in lightroom I simply upped the clarity a bit and left the rest as is.

This is also a preview of one of the themes I want to do over the next few months with this 365. More to come on that soon!

Here’s the stats:
Exposure:0.3
Aperture:f/4.2
Focal Length:26 mm
ISO Speed:400
Exposure Bias:0 EV
Flash:No Flash

25-01-10 – The hand that takes the photo

February 25th, 2010

Today was another office day and it has to be said my imagination has been bit lacking over the last few days as all I have been doing is working working working… Anyway I was trawling flickr for inspiration and saw a lot of shot’s using hands. So I thought I would have a go. I messed around with a number of shot’s angles and positions and then converted them to black and white and ran them through Color Efex Pro. This was my fav of the lot

I am watching the Olympic Womens Ice Hockey final. Being part Canadian this is big match for me. Canada vs USA and we just scored a 2nd goal WOOOO 2-0 Canada

Here’s the stats:
Exposure:0.125 sec (1/8)
Aperture:f/4.8
Focal Length:38 mm
ISO Speed:200
Exposure Bias:0 EV

24-02-10 – Good enough to eat

February 24th, 2010

Today I cooked a Jalfrezi curry. I cooked it this morning and put it in a container to let the flavours infuse to the chiken more and took it to work with me. I then heated it up with some Uncle Ben’s microwave rice and had it for dinner. If I do say so myself it was pretty good! I thought I would make it my shot for the day.

Added a small amount of Vignetting in Lightroom and that was about it.

Here’s the stats:
Exposure: 0.005 sec (1/200)
Aperture: f/5.6
Focal Length: 55 mm
ISO Speed: 200
Exposure Bias: 0 EV
Flash: Auto, Fired, Return detected

23-02-10 – Well Used

February 23rd, 2010

This is my passport, it’s been pretty well used, and even gone for a swim at the base of a waterfall (someone forgot to remove it from their pocket). I have been pretty lucky with countries I have visited, including Venezuela, Canada and many parts of Europe. I am off travelling again soon as well. I am heading off to Canada for a ski break away. I will of course continue to do my 365, infact I am really looking forward to taking shot’s that are not from my home, office or Sheffield. I however may well not be able to post them each day. I will when I can put them up either in batches or if I have a regular internet connection the post them daily. I know in the Second week I will but the 1st week I am not 100% sure. Best way to follow items when I post them is to subscribe to my RSS feed.

Post processing on this was done in Color Efex Pro.

Here’s the stats:
Exposure: 0.017 sec (1/60)
Aperture: f/7.1
Focal Length: 40 mm
ISO Speed: 1600
Exposure Bias: 0 EV
Flash: Auto, Fired, Return detected

22-02-10 – Jamie

February 22nd, 2010

This is Jamie. I work with Jamie and today he was a little but frustrated by how slow a customers computer was running. As a result whilst waiting for it to do things he has a little bit of waiting. Of course he productively spent it doing this. Good Ole Jamie.

Processed in LightRoom, given a square crop and I added some grain to this. I am not overly happy with the post processing I did on the shot, however I ran out of time in order for me to get the photo posted today.

Here’s the stats:
Exposure:0.04 sec (1/25)
Aperture:f/5.6
Focal Length:55 mm
ISO Speed:400
Exposure Bias:0 EV
Flash:No Flash

21-02-10 – It’s back

February 21st, 2010

Just when we thought we had seen the last of the white powdery stuff (no not cocaine) it returns. So as any photographer should I went out with my camera. I took a selection of shot’s and this was one of my fav’s. Not done much with it. Brought out the darks a wee bit and straightened it slightly.

That’s All.

Here’s the stats:
Exposure:0.017 sec (1/60)
Aperture:f/4.0
Focal Length:26 mm
ISO Speed:400
